The Maui Seasons for Peace and Nonviolence Committee annually presented the Peace Hero Award. This award began in 2000 to recognize individuals and organizations that foster peace in their mission. Maui Taiko was awarded this recognition at The Maui Theatre in Lahaina after their concert that featured a song created to recognize the Sadako Memorial at the Hiroshima Peace Park.
